ABOUT

Founded in 2025, ARIC STUDIO is a Garment Workshop dedicated to the art of craftsmanship. The workshop restores vintage designer, reworks vintage classics, and produces small batch designs. Zoë Trout, the Founder, has worked for many years in the fashion industry as a Designer. Throughout her career, she became increasingly discouraged about the environmental issues and labor exploitation that the fashion industry caused. The ethos of ARIC STUDIO is based in the support of artist laborers, and in the sustainable and ethical practice of small-scale, locally made, and fairly paid work. We will hold ourselves accountable to two things: investing in repairing existing garments, and only making new items with the ability to last.

We believe that great art is rooted in craft, which is actually where we get our name – Art Rooted in Craft Studio. But great art is also often rooted in collaboration. Our studio not only creates and restores in-house, it also works with local craftspeople to help support NYC's garment ecosystem – the heart of which is located in the city's historic Garment District in central Manhattan – one of the last vestiges of artisan craft in the country. In addition, 1% of our profits go towards non-profit organizations protecting artisan labor and fighting for fair wages and climate justice in the clothing industry.

We think of ourselves more like an Atelier than a Vintage Store or a Traditional Fashion Brand. Our goal is to celebrate the craft, and share the journey of being a small maker that is part of a rich ecosystem of highly-specialized local artisan work.
